Pro-Reform Prime Minister!
Yesterday, it was finally ratified that Dr. Manmohan Singh will be the new Prime Minister of India. Being an economist who is pro-reform, this is definitely good news. He has said that the reforms will continue though with a "human-face". We'll wait to see exactly what that implies.
One thing's for sure, at this stage our economic future does look brighter. The reaction at Dalal Street is certainly indicative of that.

That's great!
I am amazed that she had the sense to quit when she saw the reactions...
Nice blog, good luck!

Since the Congress party (and most Indians, for that matter) view human beings as expendable/interchangeable members of a collective group (caste, religion, etc.), reforms with a "human" face mean only one thing: slower reforms, and more wealth redistribution.

You are right, redistribution of wealth is all that they are capable of. People who don't produce, find it very easy and righteous to distribute wealth created by others.
Lets hope sanity prevails and the new FM doesn't pull out a disastrous budget.
It was good to hear from you :)
